This beautiful piece combines two of Hindu's most important and recognizable images: Ganesha, lord of success and wisdom and remover of obstacles, in the center, surrounded by Om (Aum), the sound of creation and symbol of the sacred syllable representing Brahman, the omnipotent, omnipresent, source of all manifest existence. The Om is always included in Hindu temples and family shrines and is also used by some Feng Shui practitioners.

These cast metal masks from India represent either the Buddha Dipankara, a deity of Mahayana Buddhism, known as the Enlightener, or the Amoghasiddhi, the Dhyani Buddha of the realization of the Bodhisattva Path and the Buddha of Unfailing Success. (Because both are represented with similar headresses, we are not sure which was specifically intended, if not even another, but when choosing between enlightenment and unfailing success, you can't lose.)
